LIGHTING DESIGN
Hello,
I'm Noemi !
I am a Chicana lighting designer from Los Ángeles, CA. For those who don't know the term Chicana/0/x, it represents someone like me—born in the U.S. with Mexican heritage. Beyond personal identity, it holds significance, a badge of pride for Mexican-Americans like myself. I proudly identify with both definitions and want to use my art to tell the stories of my community.
I hold a BA degree in Theatre Arts from California State University of Fullerton, and I freelance as a lighting designer in Southern California. My journey into lighting design began when I started working as a lighting technician in high school, and my passion grew throughout college. I believe that lighting design is the empty space needed for all physical objects. It is the supporter of all objects and expresses itself without words.
Along my college journey, I added a minor in Chicanx Studies. Coming from a Mexican immigrant family, I wanted to know more about our history. I believe knowledge is the key to empowerment, and understanding one's roots is a potent source of strength.
On a lighter note, when I'm not immersed in the world of lights and studies, you'll find me joyfully exploring new places to eat and taking pictures of my dishes <3
